product description

Master plant: Camellia oleifera. C.Abel  (Teesamenbaum)
INCI: Camellia oleifera seed oil

Origin:

Tea oil camellia occurs in the evergreen forest area on the coasts of Japan. It is widely distributed in Japan and is cultivated extensively in Japan, China and Vietnam. Even if the tea oil camellia is very robust, thrives in the cold winters of Japan, and even bears flowers there under snow, cultivation in Europe has not been very successful so far.

Characteristics and substances:

The seeds of the tea oil camellia contain a lot of oil (70-87%). To extract oil only the seeds are used. The colorless to pale yellow tea seed oil has a characteristic aroma and is rich in oleic acid (70-87%), linoleic acid (5-14%) and palmitic acid (6-10%).

Applications:

Camellia oil, also known as tea seed oil, has a slightly sweet scent, is pale yellow in color and neutral in taste. This oil can be used for various dishes. In China and Japan, tea seed oil is used as a versatile edible oil - comparable to olive oil in Europe.

Further applications

For centuries it has been used in Japan as a "beauty oil" in cosmetics to strengthen skin, hair and nails. This oil is suitable for highly sensitive and allergy-prone skin.
