Origin:

Spirulina (Arthrospira) is a genus of cyanobacteria (previously known as "blue-green algae") and occurs in strongly alkaline salt lakes (pH value between 9 and 11), but also in fresh water. It colonizes shallow, subtropical to tropical waters with a high salt content, especially in Central America, Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia, but is now also often created in cultures.

Spirulina biomass is produced in open and closed aquacultures at a water temperature of up to 37 degrees Celsius. For harvesting, the culture is pumped through a filter or a continuous centrifuge and the biomass obtained in this way is then dried with hot air or in sunlight. The dried biomass is then pulverized.

Properties and ingredients:

The dark green spirulina powder has all the essential amino acids and contains vegan protein, high amounts of vitamin K and of course antioxidants such as vitamin A and phycocyanin. Spirulina contains vitamin B12, which helps reduce tiredness*.*(4 g contain 0.8 mcg of vitamin B 12 (recommended daily dose 34% NRV **) (** =% of the reference amount according to Regulation (EU) No. 1169/2011).
