product description

Master plant: Pouteria lucuma

Origin:

Lucuma is a plant of the Pouteria family and is native to the Andean valleys of South America in Chile, Ecuador and Peru. The plant was cultivated in Peru more than 2000 years ago and was very important to the Incas as an elixir and food.
Nowadays the plant grows in many subtropical areas from South America to Asia. PRIMABENE® Lucuma fruit powder organic comes from Oxapampa, a 2000 m high area in the highlands of Peruvian Andes, where it is cultivated, harvested and processed by a dedicated family business according to the guidelines of controlled organic cultivation.

Characteristics and substances:

Lucuma is an exotic fruit with yellow pulp. Due to its origin it is often referred to as "Gold of the Incas". The fruits are rich in carotenoids, vitamin C, niacin, iron, calcium, potassium, zinc and fiber.
The aromatic fruit powder is naturally sweet and the taste is reminiscent of a combination of mango and dates. Lucuma fruit powder is not used in nutrition as a fruit substitute, but as a natural/healthy sweetener.
