Acerola is an evergreen shrub or small tree which is mostly 1 - 3 m high.
The fruits of this tree have a juicy and delicate sour flavour.
The area where you can find this tress includes Texas, Mexico Panama, Brasil and Guatemala but also in Jamaika this plant grows.
Characteristics and substances:
The fruits of the Acerola have a very high vitamin C content. 100 g fresh juice contain 1400-4500 mg of this vitamin. Therefor it is used at Vitamin A deficiency. Especialy in the winter months the Acerola fruit is very helpful because the vitamin C strengthens the body's defensive forces. We also need the vitamin C for the formation of bones, teeth and gum, bile acid and blood.
